An independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. Founded in 1948 by the Congregation of St. Basil as a Catholic College for men. St. John Fisher College became independent in 1968, coeducational in 1971, and continues to honor its Catholic and Basilian heritage. Campus sits upon 154 park-like acres, a beautiful setting for 25 modern buildings. In the suburban neighborhood of Pittsford, just a few miles from downtown Rochester, NY. Enrollment consists of 2,700 full-time undergraduates; 200 part-time undergraduates; and 850 graduate students. Fisher offers 33 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, and nursing, as well as 11 pre-professional programs.

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid:
    Transfer Achievement Scholarships are awarded to full-time transfer students with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 from all previously attended institutions. Award amounts range from $7,000 to $10,000 per year. Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships are awarded to students who are participating members. This scholarship is $3,000 per year for each year a recipient attends Fisher. Legacy Award: $1000 per year Flower City Award for Out-of-State Students: $5,000 per year

    Transfer candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 in order to be considered for admission.

    Official high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores may be required for students who have completed less than 24 credits at the college level.

Transfer Credit Policy

  • Minimum Grade:
    Fisher will consider awarding credit for courses in which the student achieved a minimum grade of C (2.0).
  • Credits (Min/Max):
    Students that have earned a two-year degree (A,A., A.S., A.A.S.) from a fully accredited college or university prior to entering St. John Fisher College will be awarded a minimum 60 credits in transfer.
